Our Story
How Unique Housing Solutions Started
Founded in 2024, UHS for Women emerged from a journey of compassion and commitment to helping those in need. It began three and 1/2 years after establishing a home for men, when the founder of another organization started receiving an unprecedented number of calls from women seeking safe and supportive housing.
In 2023, an encounter occurred with a new friend (from a nonprofit networking group) who ran her own transitional living home for women. Recognizing each other's strengths and preferences, we realized we had the opportunity to significantly expand our impact by joining forces. An opportunity presented itself and the two formed a partnership. While the founder felt more at ease working with men, her counterpart was more comfortable with women. This convergence of strengths led to the decision to establish an all-female house.
Although there was contemplation about offering a co-ed shared living situation, it was ultimately dismissed due to the potential challenges and liabilities it could bring. Thus, Our Home for Women was born.
As we embark on this journey, still in its infancy—we invite you to follow along as our story unfolds. Together, we are committed to providing a safe haven and empowering support for women in need.
Our Mission
At Unique Housing Solutions, our mission is clear: to empower women by equipping them with the tools and environment necessary to achieve self-sufficiency and independence. We firmly believe that setting expectations and fostering responsibility are integral to empowering women on their journey toward self-reliance.
Unlike traditional shelters that offer free housing without expectations, UHS takes a different approach. We understand that while free shelter may be necessary for a short period, an extended dependency on it can lead to complacency. Therefore, we provide safe, stable, and affordable shelter to our residents while setting the expectation that they take an active role in their own progress.
Our role at UHS is purely supportive. We do not offer clinical or medical services. Instead, we focus on providing a supportive environment where women can thrive. For those who require additional assistance beyond what we can provide, we maintain partnerships with appropriate organizations that can offer specialized support.
At UHS, we understand that solving the homeless crisis requires a multifaceted approach. That's why we're committed to tackling the issue one situation at a time, one person at a time. By offering personalized support and fostering a sense of responsibility, we believe we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of women in need of Supportive housing.

SAFE SHELTER
In a shared living environment, it's natural for individuals to have differences of opinion and occasional disagreements. However, at UHS, we prioritize fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere for all members. While disagreements may arise, we firmly believe in maintaining boundaries to prevent toxic communication such as yelling, threatening, or aggressive behavior.
Unlike other housing arrangements solely focused on financial transactions, UHS places a significant emphasis on creating a supportive and harmonious living environment. We take the well-being and safety of our members seriously.
While we strive to give everyone a chance, we understand that not every individual may be a suitable fit for our community. Therefore, UHS conducts thorough screenings of potential members to ensure compatibility. However, we acknowledge that unforeseen challenges may arise.
In the event that immediate action is necessary to maintain a safe and peaceful environment, UHS will take swift and appropriate measures to address the situation. Our commitment to our members' peace and well-being remains unwavering.

Consistent Rent: Shared housing typically offers more stability in rent payments. With a fixed rent amount paid by all occupants, you can feel confident that there won't be sudden fluctuations in your monthly housing expenses. This stability allows for better long-term financial planning. UHS bears the responsibility of utilities,wifi, and other housing related costs, making it more affordable for all it's members.
Supportive Environment: Living with roommates can provide emotional support and companionship. You'll have someone to share responsibilities with and possibly build meaningful relationships. Knowing you have someone to rely on can contribute to a sense of security and well-being.
Shared Responsibilities: In shared housing, tasks like cleaning, maintenance, and grocery shopping can be divided among roommates, lightening the load for everyone. This shared responsibility fosters a sense of community and cooperation, making daily life more manageable and enjoyable. Overall, shared housing offers not only financial benefits but also a supportive and collaborative living environment that enhances overall quality of life.
